Tin Ceilings by the Tin Man is the Tin Ceiling Company with a Heart.

Tin ceiling(s) are our Life and Only Business. (We are a) Manufacturer and Supplier of Tin Ceilings. Chelsea Decorative Metal Company is a family owned business now owned by Glenn "The Tin Man" Eldridge. His father Teddy, sold tin ceilings, as well as installed tin ceilings in New York City. Glenn worked at Yankee Stadium as a vender, but it was after going to the Woodstock Festival (1969) that Glenn joined his father and began installing tin ceilings. Today, he is one of the few people that not only manufactures tin ceilings, but has also been an installer of tin ceilings. By the way Glenn named his dog Rin Tin Tin.

Chelsea's tin ceilings are used both residentially and commercially. Commercially they are used in restaurants, office buildings, bars and night clubs, retail stores, churches and movie sets. (You can see the tin ceilings in "Coyote Ugly" and "Spiderman". Many TV shows use the tin ceiling material for background to their sets.) Residentially they can be used in every room, adding elegance to the dining rooms, fun to the playrooms and just plain adds nostalgia to any room. Kitchens are the most popular room for tin ceilings. The tin ceiling sheets can also be used on walls as a back splash, a wainscoting and (people even use the tin ceiling sheets for) wall hangings. The tin sheets mostly come in 2 ft. X 4 ft. sheets. Some tin sheets come in 2 ft. X 2 ft. sheets. Either size makes it easily to install. The tin ceilings are so popular that they are even used (as suspended (tin) ceilings or drop (tin) ceilings. The Tin Man's sheets are ORIGINAL DESIGNS, that date back (to) the 1800's. (The tin ceilings were used an an alternative to the decorative plaster of the time.) The tin sheets come in a shiny silver tin finish, which can be paint directly to with an oil-based paint. You can also paint the metal sheets gold or copper for a brilliant metallic look. (Note: We now have the tin ceiling sheets in a beautiful copper finish.)

(All the tin ceiling sheets are) made of Tin-plated steel which is excellent for paint retention or you can see our (Decorative Hand Painted (Faux) Finshes at http://www.thetinman.com/finishes_faux.htm. The various styles, which are original designs, range from Art Deco to Victorian. Victorian designs are the most popular of all the tin ceiling designs. The patterns come in 3 inch, 6 inch, 12 inch and 24 inch repeat patterns. Also available are tin cornices, moldings, and fillers. Please take time to browse our elegant selection of tin ceilings in our Styles section, http://www.thetinman.com/styles_victorian.htm, which, of course, include our most popular designs: Americana, Art Deco and Victorian. The tin ceilings are used for new construction as well as for remodeling. The do-it-yourselfers love them. Chelsea's tin ceilings are priced reasonably for our customers, and consulting and service makes our customers happy to use us. Since we manufacture tin ceilings, our stock is good and orders can usually be shipped immediately. Not only do we Manufacture Tin Ceilings, but offer Free Consultations. We are not just sales people at Chelsea and we will be glad to answer any and all questions (from) either you or your builder. (We have found that many people not only love the tin ceilings, but tin ceilings remind them of some store in their youth. When they were young either the ice cream parlor had tin ceilings or there were tin ceilings in the hardware store. Some where they saw these tin ceilings as a kid.) Thank you for taking time to look through our website (at the many tin ceiling designs the tin ceiling finishes and the gallery with pictures of the tin ceilings.)
