Tin Ceilings by the Tin Man is the Tin Ceiling Company with a Heart.

Chelsea Decorative Metal Company has been a family-owned business for over 60 years and is now owned by Glenn “The Tin Man” Eldridge. His father, Teddy, manufactured and installed tin ceilings in New York City. Glenn worked at Yankee Stadium as a vendor, but it was after going to the Woodstock Festival in 1969 that Glenn joined the family business. Glenn is celebrating his 50th anniversary this year (2019) just like the Woodstock Festival. You can find the book he wrote (We Are Woodstock) about his experience, on Amazon.

About Chelsea Decorative Metal

Tin Ceilings by the Tin Man is the Tin Ceiling Company with a Heart.

Tin ceilings are our only business. We are a manufacturer and supplier of tin ceiling tiles, tin ceiling crown molding (cornice), suspended ceilings, tin tile backsplash and other tin products such as molding, frieze and copper sheets. Chelsea Decorative Metal Company is a family owned business now owned by Glenn "The Tin Man" Eldridge. His father Teddy, sold tin tile ceilings, as well as installed the tin tiles in New York City. Glenn worked at Yankee Stadium as a vender, but it was after going to the Woodstock Festival (1969) that Glenn joined his father and began installing tin tile ceilings. Today, he is the only person in the industry that not only manufactures tin tile ceilings, but has also been an installer of tin tiles. By the way Glenn named his dog Rin Tin Tin.

Chelsea's tin tile ceilings are used both commercially and residentially. Commercially, the tin tiles are being used in suspended ceilings, as well as, being installed the original way tin tile ceilings were installed throughout the 20th century with hammer and nails. They are used in restaurants, office buildings, bars and night clubs, retail stores, churches and movie sets. You can see the tin ceiling tiles in "Coyote Ugly" and "Spiderman". More recently in "Jonah Hex" and the soon to be released remake of "True Grit". Many TV shows use the tin ceiling tiles for background sets. Residentially they can be used in every room, adding elegance to a dining room, fun to a playroom and nostalgia to the whole house. Kitchen remodeling with these tile ceilings are very popular. You can do a tile ceiling or a tile backsplash with a faux (hand painted) finish or use our copper sheets. The tin ceiling tiles can be used as a backsplash, a wainscoting or a wall covering. People even use the tin ceiling tiles for wall hangings, picture frames, inserts and many arts & craft projects.

The tin ceiling tiles mostly come in 2 ft. X 4 ft. sheets, but some tin ceiling tiles come in 2 ft. X 2 ft. panels. Either size makes it easily to install. The tin ceiling tiles are becoming more and more popular for suspended ceilings (drop tin ceilings). The Tin Man's tiles are ORIGINAL DESIGNS that date back to the 1800's. The tin ceiling tiles were used as an alternative to the decorative plaster of the time. The tin ceiling tiles come in a shiny silver tin finish, which can be paint directly to with an oil-based paint. You can also paint the metal tiles gold for a brilliant metallic look. Note: We now have the tin ceiling tiles in copper sheets.

All the tin ceiling tiles are made of tin-plated steel which are excellent for paint retention, but take a look at our faux (hand painted) finishes. The various styles, which are original designs, range from Art Deco to Victorian. The Victorian style is the most popular of all tin ceiling tile designs. Other styles are Americana, Art Deco, Generic and Turn of the Century.

Patterns come in 3 inch, 6 inch, 12 inch and 24 inch repeat patterns. Also available are crown molding (cornice) and fillers. Please take time to browse our eye pleasing selections of tin ceiling tiles in our Styles Section.

The tin ceiling tiles are used for home renovation as well as kitchen remodeling. The do-it-yourselfers love the metal tiles as well. Chelsea's tin ceiling tiles are priced reasonably and our consulting and service makes our customers very happy to use us. Since we manufacture tin ceiling tiles, our stock is plentiful and orders can usually be shipped immediately. Not only do we manufacture tin ceilings, but offer free consultations. We are not just sales people at Chelsea and we will be glad to answer any and all questions from either you, your builder or your designer. We have found that many people not only love the tin ceiling tiles, but the tin ceiling tiles bring back the nostalgia of their youth, either the ice cream parlor had tin ceiling tiles or there were tin ceiling tiles in the hardware store.
