Everything Old is New Again

Updated: Jan 28, 2023

Tin ceilings seem more popular today than the years between creating them and now. When they first were introduced back in the 1800's, they were use economically because sculpting the plaster to give one a decorative ceiling was expensive because of the labor involved. Tin ceilings came along in decorative sheet, that once painted white, looked like a plaster ceiling. When my dad installed them, they were mostly for landlords that were tired of repairing cracked or fallen plaster. Once they were put up and painted, there was no more maintenance unless there was a leak in the apartments above. It might discolor the metal ceiling, but now all the landlords had to do was repaint.

Today the tin ceilings have been used in homes because of their decorativeness, the nostalgic memories and the cost.

1- The decorative sheet range from very ornate to mildly ornate.

2- Tin ceilings bring back memories of ones childhood. Some remember the hardware stores, drug stores, ice cream parlors and many other places.

3- The cost of tin-plated steel sheet have been the same, here at Chelsea, for years.

Our price for any and all designs are $2.25 per foot.

By the way, thanks for checking out our site. Remember if you're down, cheer up, things could be worse. I remember when I was down, I cheered up and sure enough . . . things got worse.

NOTE: You can send us a diagram with the dimensions as close as you can get. Doesn’t have to be drawn to scale, I will do that. List the designs you think you would like to use and your address. I will draw up a diagram that will help your installer, as well as, have what you need and the cost to get it to you.

Thanks for reading.
